NOT BY MIGHT, NOT BY POWER

NOT BY MIGHT, NOT BY POWER

In our fast-paced world, we often equate success with strength, control, and sheer determination. We are taught to believe that the most successful among us are those who push the hardest, climb the highest, and exert the most influence. Yet, in the midst of our striving, God reminds us through the prophet Zechariah that true strength comes not from our might or power, but from His Spirit.

Imagine Zerubbabel standing before the daunting task of rebuilding the Temple in Jerusalem, filled with uncertainty and perhaps even fear. The challenges before him seemed insurmountable. Yet, the word of the Lord came to him, a powerful reminder that it was not by his own efforts that he would succeed, but by the Spirit of God. This truth is a cornerstone for us today.

When we face our own mountains—be it in our careers, relationships, or personal struggles—we must remember that human effort alone will not suffice. We may have the skills, resources, and determination, but without the guidance and empowerment of the Holy Spirit, we are limited. God invites us to rely not on our own strength but to seek His Spirit to lead us through every challenge.

In our daily lives, we can cultivate a spirit of dependence on God. Instead of rushing to solve problems with our own strategies, we can pause and invite the Holy Spirit into our situations. This requires humility—a willingness to acknowledge that our best efforts can fall short when faced with the complexities of life.

As you navigate today, consider the areas where you have relied heavily on your own might. Are there challenges you are facing that feel too great to overcome? In those moments, remember that you are not alone. God’s Spirit is available to empower you, guide you, and bring clarity where you see confusion.

Take a moment for self-assessment:

1. In what areas of my life have I been relying solely on my own strength?

2. How can I intentionally invite the Holy Spirit into my daily decisions and challenges?

3. What is one small step I can take today to demonstrate my reliance on God rather than myself?

Let us embrace the truth that our greatest victories are not won by our might or our power, but by the Spirit of the Lord. Today, choose to surrender your burdens to Him, trusting that His Spirit will equip you to face whatever comes your way. The Lord of hosts is with you, and through His Spirit, you will overcome.
